  • How do we select our tutors?

Teaching is all about communication of information and making the learning experience interesting and enjoyable. Our Managing Director chooses all of the team at YMS and the focus is people skills, experience and passion for teaching. Most amazingly capable musicians would be poor teachers and vice versa, so YMSC has a team of personally selected experts who we match up to the students after careful planning and consideration.

  • Where are we?

Your Music School Canterbury is based on Simmonds Road on the Wincheap Estate, just a few yards from the Wincheap roundabout on the city’s ring road. Easy access by car and just a couple of minutes walk from Canterbury East railway station. Our younger students can walk to us from all the local secondary schools within 30 minutes or a shorter 10 minute walk from the city centre and bus station.

  • Are there parking facilities?

Unfortunately we have limited parking space on site but most customers can normally find a space either on our site or in the public car park next to Iceland food store. Many parents drop off and pick up their children and don’t use the parking spaces.

  • Is there a waiting room or facilities?

We have a comfortable waiting area for customers and their families with tables, chairs, tea/coffee/hot choc and a snack vending machine. We provide toilet facilities and a friendly face on reception to assist with any of your needs.

  • Can we take exams at YMS?

Yes we work with all the main exam boards ABRSM, Trinity College, Rockschool, Trinity Rock & Pop and RGT. We are also the public centre for Rockschool & TC Rock & Pop. Almost all of our pupils take their exams in our facilities.
